How to find some zen in your workday

With the new year well and truly underway, the stress of racing out the door early in the morning is finally starting to catch up with many of us. The added pressure of work can leave us feeling deflated and stressed out by the time evening rolls around. Here are 5 simple ways to bring some zen into your workday and help you to feel more vital.

  1. Plug into your favourite music or podcast on the way to and from work to distract you from work.

  2. Limit screen time after work, that email can wait! By incorporating relaxing activities that don’t involve screens, you allow your body to fully wind down for the evening, giving you a better chance of a good night's sleep.

  3. Do one small thing for yourself each day. It could be a guided meditation, a warm bath, or a cup of your favourite herbal tea. Each act of self care is a step in the right direction to better wellbeing.

  4. Make time to move your body in between the work day. Leave your desk for at least 10 minutes, you can even take a lap around the office floor.

  5. Plan out your meals for the week and ensure you are incorporating good nutrition into your meals. Having enough protein in each meal will help your body to cope with daily stressors better and keep your energy levels balanced throughout the day.
